Abstract
ln recent years, advances in genetic diversity research and deep historical literature review have enabled to develop a deeper understanding of the journey of Coffea . arabica from its centre of origin and of domestication throughout the world. T he present review chapter is divided into three main sections. The first section gives an update of the various robust hypothesis on the origin of the allotetraploid C. arabica species. The second section review the latest findings related to the genetic diversity of C. arabica, both from its centre of origin, including recent results of wild popula- tions from South Sudan, and from its centre of domestication with new knowledge from Yemen coffee genetic dive rs ity.
