Abstract

Nonaqueous media Enzymatic catalysis
Instead of the conventional aqueous media, the use of organic solvents for enzymatic catalysis has become more and more popular over the past few years, allowing the preparative synthesis of asymmetric products (1). Not only lipase, which naturally works at the lipid-water interfaces, but other enzymes (cytoplasmic proteases) have been shown to be stable and active enough to be used as efficient catalysts in nearly anhydrous organic media.
