Abstract
Educational sciences are part of the humanities: they bring us together and contribute to the renewal of methods and teaching. I was a teacher of ancient languages before becoming a researcher on educational change, I will therefore only speak in these pages of what I know… a little! This chapter discusses the paradoxical links between two disciplines as contrasting as old languages and cultures of antiquity (langues et cultures de l'antiquité- LCA), the current French name, and the very recent sciences of education and training. Secondly, it explores a few widely used avenues within the framework of a very old teaching (the oldest with philosophy?) But also it undertakes to reflect on the place of antiquity in our daily lives. It ends with an anticipation on the development of these two disciplines, anticipation that is part of a reflection on what they will become both in society and in the School which continues its long history from the Academy of Plato until to virtual schools whose future is not assured to this day.
