Abstract
This chapter surveys phosphonium and heterophosphonium salts and related classes, where one or more alkyl groups are directly bound to the phosphorus atom. It also includes alpha-, beta-, and gamma-functionalized alkyl substituents. The last part of this chapter describes the synthesis of cyclic as well as multi- or polymeric phosphonium salts.
