Mitochondria play highly specialized, indispensable roles in the synthesis and secretion of hormones, and are involved in many physiological functions in vertebrates including humans. In turn, these hormones act on tissues’ metabolism and functions via different mechanisms including all aspects of mitochondria biology. This chapter will review some of these important cross-talks between hormones and mitochondria by underlying striking examples.
