Abstract
In order to answer the question: how can we design art education for non-specialist students at university? First, we need to consider the question that precedes it: why should students with no professional ambitions in this field be taught about the arts and culture? Firstly, we'll show how art and culture have their own levers for constructing the subject, by enabling us to take into account the antagonistic characteristics of the subject (homos sapiens/homo demens, homo empiricus/homo imaginarius, etc.), how they help us to appreciate the uncertainty of knowledge and to develop our understanding of others, and, finally, how they are indispensable to a contemporary society that favours individualism, communication, money, etc., since by developing humanity, they contribute to the development of the human being, since, by developing the humanity of the subject, they promote peace.
