Chapter presentation:If it's imperative to praise philosophizing today, isn't it because society is confiscating the person's time and thus his or her ability to think and philosophize, just as it's destroying his or her ability to act?Book Eloge du philosopher presentation Why praise philosophizing? To distinguish philosophizing from philosophy, and to shed light on the value of philosophical action, whether it produces problems, hypotheses, theses and concepts, or ways of life. In these times of depreciation, weariness and depression, it's fruitful to refuse the "what's the point!" and to say what we value and why, to put forward what has constituted us. It's a question of (philosophical) values. And philosophizing is one of the human activities that deserves our praise.
