Résumé
Examples on the use of layered double hydroxides as solid base catalysts, catalyst precursors and supports are presented. The factors influencing the nature and strength of the basic sites are briefly reviewed and the discussion focusses on the application of LDHs and mixed oxides for the aldol condensation of acetone, the selective hydrogenation of nitriles and the oxidation of mercaptans.
