Abstract
The French cooperation and cultural network abroad, an agency of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is celebrating its centenary in the context of a reform project and organizational transformation to meet the new challenges of cultural diplomacy and influence, a sector in the throes of fierce international competition. This contribution highlights the hybrid nature of this reconfiguration, in which the organizational culture, clearly marked by the stamp of « cultural cooperation », has been combined since the late 1990s with a managerial culture marking the rise of the new French-style public management. These developments show the gradual construction of a new management system involving the members of the organization, both at headquarters and abroad, in order to better control the management of this organization which operates worldwide.
