Résumé
This chapter contains an analysis of a case study of how a French water services company, Eau Méditerranée, approached the problem of Knowledge Management for sustainable water systems by a policy based on openness and transparency. The case is viewed from three different Knowledge Management perspectives: technology based, autopoietic and Foucauldian, in order to draw out the practical implications of the study. The chapter closes with a discussion of the links between Knowledge Management and sustainability. It concludes that, in order to be successful, Knowledge Management initiatives need firstly to pay attention to the level of granularity of the data, secondly to allow a plurality of viewpoints, and finally such initiatives need to go beyond both the technological and the managerial and engage with the social and political aspects of the environment in which they are embedded.
