This discussion aims at examining how D. H. Lawrence’s aesthetic project as a modernist writer reasserts the materiality of things in a selection of short stories, namely ‘The White Stocking’ (1914), ‘The Thimble’ (1917), ‘Things’ and ‘The Blue Moccasins’ (1928).
