Résumé
Graduality is a key concept when dealing with imprecision and uncertainty. There would thus have been numerous manners to deal with graduality. This chapter however focuses on gradual patterns of the form of “the more/less $$A_1,$$ $$\ldots $$ , the more/less $$A_n$$ ”. The study of such patterns has emerged very early with the study of rule-based systems but at this time they were provided by experts. The automatic extraction of gradual patterns from databases has then benefited from the progress of data mining (in the sense of pattern mining) and has then generated works from several teams.
