Alzheimer's disease amyloid‐β dementia notch presenilins secretase β‐catenin
Mutations with PS1 and PS2 account for the majority of the identified mutations of familial Alzheimer's disease cases. In addition to its activity in amyloid precursor protein and Notch processing, PS1 has also been shown to associate with the family of armadillo proteins, including β‐catenin. While the interaction of PS1 with β‐catenin has been consistently found in a number of laboratories, the consequences of the interaction remain controversial.
