Résumé
A forest is defined by the FAO as an area with over 10% tree cover and trees taller than 5 m. Forests vary greatly in structure and their integration with agricultural landscapes. Although agriculture causes 80% of deforestation—about 50,000 km² annually since 1990—the climate change impacts on forest-agriculture interactions are little studied. Multi-sectoral territorial projects like TerrAmaz in the Brazilian Amazon are rare. This chapter focuses on how forests influence and are affected by climate change, proposing actions to help human-transformed forests adapt.
