Abstract
This chapter gives an overview of the current state of knowledge regarding Chara imperfecta, a rare species in Europe. The taxon name refers to the haplostichous disjoint (imperfect) cortication of the axis. The chapter presents the full morphological description and provides information on the distribution and ecology of the species and tackles potential threats.
