Résumé
Around 100 years ago, Zsigmondy and Bachmann invented vapor-induced phase separation (VIPS). This method is widely used as one of the primary techniques for fabricating polymeric membranes for a wide range of applications. This chapter presents the principles and main mechanisms behind membrane formation through VIPS. Following that, various morphologies achievable with this method will be discussed. Next, the influence of operating parameters on membrane morphology and properties will be analyzed. Lastly, the applications of the membranes prepared using VIPS will be explored.
