With the dawn of modern civilization, rapid technological advancements have spurred an array of global challenges that entail a paradigm shift toward sustainability. Researchers have been working extensively to identify the natural resources to be used as key ingredients for the production of various industrial commodities to reduce carbon footprints, for better efficacy, less toxicity, etc. Not only does it offer ecological stewardship, but it also perfectly aligns with consumers' growing awareness of a healthy lifestyle and demand for natural products. The rich chemical diversity and versatile properties of algal secondary metabolites make them a valuable asset across diverse sectors, including therapeutics, cosmetics, nutraceuticals, and agriculture. Their antiviral, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antioxidant, cardioprotective, hepatoprotective, and other similar properties contribute toward therapeutic and pharmaceutical applications, while their photoprotective, antioxidant, and pigment-producing ability underscores their significance in cosmetics. Algal metabolites can be used as biofertilizers as they are known to protect plants from biotic and abiotic stressors, promote nutrient absorption, and foster soil fertility and vitality. Algal secondary metabolites appear to be treasured resources demonstrating substantial potential and cater to the modern-day demands for high-value-added products in an environmentally sustainable manner.
