With the advent of so-called "next generation" sequencing technologies, the study of genetic variation in populations gained a new dimension, turning population genetics into population genomics. While a scaling-up in data set size accompanied this shift, population genomics is more than just "big data" population genetics: because the objects of study here are "genomes" and not only "multiple genes," the newly emerging field of population genomics comes along with its specific biological questions and statistical models. The goal of this volume is to present the reader with state-of-the-art inference methods in population genomics. It focuses on data analysis based on rigorous statistical techniques.
