Résumé
This monograph dedicated to the phenomenon of independent video gaming traces the emergence and history of this creative scene. The research employs a qualitative methodology based on exclusive interviews with foundational studios (such as PlayDead and Amanita Design) and emerging developers (like League of Geeks and Team Cherry). The analysis highlights the often-perilous journeys of creators, from the conceptual phase to commercialisation strategies, revealing the specific challenges of funding and marketing. Beyond the historical narrative, the study identifies the distinctive aesthetic and formal specificities of "indie" productions that profoundly renew the video game landscape: thematic innovation, graphical treatment, gameplay, narrative, and sound design.
