Abstract
In the Anthropocene, man puts himself first and tries to control the world on a large scale. Nature is reduced to an instrument and loses its intrinsic value. Virginie Maris advocates a revaluation of nature in its radical otherness. Virginie Maris contrasts the flat, borderless world of the Anthropocene with 'the wild part of the world'.Her approach presupposes a different way of thinking about and dealing with nature. It is important to limit ourselves in order to safeguard the sovereignty of wild nature and protect it from exploitation and alienation. We must behave in the wild as visitors to a foreign land, not as overseers or administrators.
