The infusion of targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT) is a critical step in patient management, which should combine ease of use with radiation protection concerns. Clinical practice widely adopted infusion pump systems that connect directly to the vial of the radiopharmaceutical drug. Such a system remains securely enclosed in a lead container, positioned on the shelf of a shielded screen. This approach has proven to be both reliable and efficient, minimizing radiation exposure and limiting the risk of radioactive contamination. The peristaltic pump works by compressing the tubing against a pressure plate using rotating rollers. It offered a practical and effective infusion method, simplifying TRT administration. This technique also allows precise control of injection duration. However, this peristaltic pump technique required thorough operator training and familiarity with detailed procedures, particularly given the extensive set of dedicated supplies involved. The protocol for administering TRT with such a peristaltic infuser involves setting up the dedicated tubing, connecting it to the radiopharmaceutical vial, and ensuring controlled delivery to the patient. A final postadministration rinsing step of the radiopharmaceutical vial limits the loss of activity in the vial and maximizes the dose actually injected into the patient.
